REGULATION AND AROMATHERAPY COUNCIL NEWS

IMPORTANT NEWS FOR REGULATION

At the bi-annual meeting of the CNHC with Professional Associations on 17th November 2009, Kate Ling Head of European and Specialist Legislation at the Department of Health confirmed that

“CNHC is the only voluntary regulatory body for complementary healthcare which has official government backing.  No other organisation has the same exacting criteria or focus on patient safety and quality across a range of therapies…..  The more people who register with the CNHC the more it will be recognised as the only organisation which provides the guarantees that members of the public are looking for.”

The Aromatherapy Council is the lead Body for Aromatherapy in the UK

  • It has been busy negotiating with the Complementary and Natural Health Council for aromatherapists to enter onto its Regulatory Register.

  • This was agreed in May which means you can now register if you wish by clicking DOWNLOAD APPLICATION FORM and following the procedures set out. The 'earlybird' offer has now expired so you will have to pay the full amount for registration when requested

  • If you wish to read more about the CNHC click here and find out more about the importance of regulation and registration.

  • The AC has also participated in the revision of the National Occupational Standards for Aromatherapy and has revised' the AC Core Curriculum which is important for the AAPA Colleges and Awarding Body

IMPORTANT!

As complementary therapy is used by more and more people for everday stresses and strains and as Regulation is established, there are attempts to undermine its success.

This means that therapists must ensure they work within a legal framework. A guide on how to achieve this has been developed by Carole Preen for the AC and other therapies are likely to follow shortly
